Les McCoy

Les M. McCoy, IIDA

President

With over 30 years of experience in commercial interior design, Les is the firm’s founder and president.

Foundation in Engineering

Les began his career by serving as project engineer and designer for the consulting engineering firm of Stevens & Associates in Bethlehem, PA. While at Stevens & Associates, he provided interior design for banking institutions, hotels, country clubs, restaurants and a number of corporate clients. Notably, he designed and managed a 50,000 square foot office re-stack for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in Bethlehem, PA. Finding a need for a firm that specialized in commercial interior design, Les left with Stevens & Associates’ blessing to found DesignPoint in 1995.

Hands-On Leadership

Les McCoy is involved in all aspects of marketing and managing the interior design process, from interior architecture to purchasing and tracking the ongoing status of our projects. Les is a member of the PA/NJ/DEL Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and NEWH and CREW Lehigh Valley. He has served on the Design Council for Durkan Patterned Carpet, Inc. Les served on the Office Space Task Force for the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation and is currently on the Board of Directors of The Literacy Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

National Recognition

Under Les’s leadership, DesignPoint has been gaining a national reputation for eldercare interiors and has received a Gold Seal Award from the NAHB National Council of Senior Living for its design work on the $15M renovation project in Philadelphia at The Fountains at Logan Square. DesignPoint has also had projects featured in several national publications such as Hospitality Design magazine and AWI’s magazine Design Solutions. Les leads the firm in providing its clients with well-appointed interiors combined with efficient purchasing and procurement services.

Kathleen L. Sportelli

Kathleen L. Sportelli, Vice President

Senior Interior Designer

Twenty Years of Commercial Design Experience

Kathleen has been creating and defining commercial interiors for over 30 years, and a principal designer with DesignPoint for over 15 years. In 2015 she became Vice President of the firm focusing on planning and interior design. Through her experience and innate design sense, she assists the DesignPoint team, in ways of solving our clients’ unique needs.

Kathleen’s strength in architectural detailing and lighting design has produced award winning commercial office spaces and high-end residential interiors, which can be seen in a number of publications.

The past 10 years, Kathleen has been focused on senior living, with an understanding of how design is an integral part of improving all aspects of senior care. She has worked on memory care, CCRC, assisted living and independent living facilities throughout much of the United States; recently completing the interior design for the second “Green House” project in New Jersey.

Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design from the University of Maryland and an Associate Degree in Architecture from Northampton Community College. She has continued to further her education in lighting design and senior living thru educational sessions from the Illumination Engineering Society, Leading Age and the Environments for Aging, to name a few.

Henry DelVecchio

Senior Interior Designer and Project Manager

Henry has worked in the Design industry for more than 25 years, and recently joined the Design Point team as a Senior Designer and Project Manager. Prior to that, he spent 18 years at Spillman Farmer Architects leading their interiors department on a wide variety of projects across all market sectors. During Henry’s career, he has developed a particular interest in design for education, workplaces, and senior living clients – and these areas will continue to be a major focus of his in his role at Design Point. Many of Henry’s projects have gone on to be recognized for design excellence by professional organizations such as the American Institute of Architects, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, and Associated Builders & Contractors.

Julie Townsend, NCIDQ

Interior Designer and Project Manager

Julie recently joined the DesignPoint staff as an NCIDQ-Certified Interior Designer and Project Manager.  Julie has six years of experience in commercial interior design, specializing in space planning, material selections, and architectural detailing.  She is adept at overseeing projects from initial concept through construction. Her corporate, retail, and hospitality design work focuses on helping clients materialize their visions and achieve their goals through design.

Julie studied Interior Architecture at Marywood University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her thesis studies focused on the psychology of place and the use of biophilic design in healing environments. She often visits her alma mater to participate as a guest critic in student design reviews.

Beth Hlavac, NCIDQ

Senior Interior Designer

Beth Hlavac joined DesignPoint in 1997. While at DesignPoint, Beth worked as a Project Manager on hospitality projects including design/build hotels and developed conceptual designs for senior living projects. She also was a key figure establishing our design library and procurement procedures. Beth left DesignPoint to raise her family and has recently rejoined the firm. Prior to joining DesignPoint, Beth worked as an interior designer in an architectural firm in Washington, D.C. Her projects included both hospitality and high end corporate office spaces.

Beth holds a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art, with a Business concentration, from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Interior Design from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. She is NCIDQ certified. Beth is able to manage projects from the initial conceptual design phase through installation. Beth’s strength are in interior architectural detailing and space planning. She strives to understand the client’s objectives and make their vision a reality. In her spare time, Beth enjoys photography and coaching the girls lacrosse team at Allentown Central Catholic High School.

Linda Friedman

Kayla Edelman

Interior Designer

Kayla had joined the DesignPoint team in the fall of 2012. Throughout the past years Kayla has greatly been focusing on senior living design, from the initial concept process to the construction documentation and construction administration. She has a strong background and like for the graphical part of design and producing concept boards and project presentation boards.

Kayla possesses the ability to produce research-based design while at the same time meeting deadlines ever present in a high-pressure design firm. Two of her short term goals are to achieve her NCIDQ and LEED certification.

Kayla holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Interior Design from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY, graduating Cum Laude. She also holds a Minor in Studio Art. She was an Interior Design Faculty Assistant at Cazenovia College in both Lighting Design and 3ds Max Programs.

Cassidy Moran

Interior Designer

Cassidy is one of the newest members at DesignPoint, joining the staff in December, 2013. Graduating from Arcadia University in 2012, she brings a fresh perspective on planning and design to the firm. She has a background in residential and commercial design, specializing in hospitality, healthcare and corporate environments.   After working for a residential designer she was able to shape her technical skills as well as gain management experience in the field.

Cassidy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Concentration in Interior Design. She is proficient in using programs such as SketchUp and Podium to help the conceptual process and produce final renderings for clients.

Ashley Zepp

Associate Interior Designer

Ashley is one of the newest design members joining the DesignPoint staff in April of 2017. She has a background in commercial design specializing in corporate and healthcare projects having spent the past two and a half years as the designer for the Knoll furniture dealer, Corporate Facilities, in the Lehigh Valley. Her design expertise includes space planning and material selection. As a design professional she offers a balance of creativity, collaboration and forward thinking with a structured, organized and detailed mentality.

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Drexel University. Drawing inspiration from daily life she believes that inspiration is found in anything you come across. She plans to continue to further her career by achieving her NCIDQ and Leed certification in the near future.

Sean Ritter

Architectural Designer

Sean is a fresh face to the Design Industry, and recently joined DesignPoint as an Interior Architectural Designer. He has been involving himself in the design world through multiple outlets, both professional and recreational, whether in the form of Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design or his “trade” of Interior Design+Architecture. Sean has previous experience in working in both the Healthcare and Hospitality fields, but intends to gain understanding and experience in all fields of the trade that DesignPoint is known for. Sean has a strong notion to tackle the design world head on and develop with the design industry and set an impact on the industry itself.

Sean possesses the ability to work in the middle ground of both Interior Design and Interior Architecture, understanding finishes, materials and the coordination of fixtures – but also being fluent in understanding the components in space planning, construction and architectural elements. All while approaching every client’s need and obstacles with organized planning.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and Architecture from Marywood University in Scranton, PA – graduating in 2016. He was Vice-President and President, as well as advocate, of his Student IIDA branch. He intends to work towards his NCIDQ and LEED GA Certification in the coming future.

Jennifer Fronheiser 

Associate Interior Designer

Jennifer has just recently joined the DesignPoint team in May 2017. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is eager to get involved and contribute her skills to various design projects as a part of the DesignPoint team. Jennifer spent the summer between her junior and senior years as a design intern at DesignPoint and during that time maintained the materials library and provided design assistance for several office projects.

In her spare time, Jennifer loves physical fitness including acting as an instructor and skiing, running and hiking.

Kimberly Stuckey

Director of Purchasing

Coordinates Projects with Clients, Vendors, and Design Staff

Kim joined DesignPoint in early 2000. Before returning to the Lehigh Valley, she was a purchasing agent for Designers II in Atlanta, GA. She provides timely, cost-effective purchasing solutions for our clients and works closely with the design staff, as well as vendors, project coordinators and clients.

Kim provides the knowledge and skill needed to manage the office and the purchasing portion of our projects from beginning to end.  She brings broad experience in all aspects of business, including having worked as a showroom manager for a high-end European fabric company.  Kim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Lucy Lopez

Accounting Manager

Manages all aspects of accounting

Lucy started at the DesignPoint in January 2016. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. In the past she worked as a budget manager for a major New York law firm, an accountant for a bank and a sales rep for a kitchen countertop fabricator.  Her responsibilities include managing invoicing, receivables, payables and human resource benefits.
