DesignPoint Selected as Interior Designer for Napa Senior Living

Bethlehem-based DesignPoint has worked with major corporations on senior living and health care projects across the nation. The newest project to their repertoire is a senior living project in Napa California which features 195,000 SF of new construction offering a unique blend of independent living, assisted living and memory care.

Hand picked for the job because of their experience in senior living, DesignPoint was engaged by Watermark Communities, a senior living management company. Specifically, Watermark sought DesignPoint to maximize the central core of common areas and dining areas to provide a functional experience for active senior lifestyles. DesignPoint Senior Designer Kathy Sportelli worked on the interior architecture, selection of furniture and finishes and the general look and feel of the spaces.

The project is designed to create a contemporary, senior living community full of activity and engagement. The 173 unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community will provide care to Napa’s aging population in an amenity laden building with ample outdoor space. Of the proposed 173 units, 73 are designated as Independent Living apartments, 79 Assisted Living units for residents who require assistance with their activities of daily living, and the remaining 21 units are designated for Memory Care.

The development of Napa Senior Living is fast paced due to the desire of a quick opening by the project owner Oppidan, a venture capital fund. The new community offers a modern California look and three stories of senior living. The community hosts a continuum of care from independent living to assisted living and even memory care on one secured wing.

San Francisco-based Smithgroup JJR is the architect and says that the inspiration for the design is contemporary agrarian in a residential style. The goal is to break down the mass with a lot of relief, shadow lines,

Amenities for residents, visitors, and staff include three dining venues and a bar, a fitness/wellness center, living room, library, theater, chapel, and multi-purpose room. Additionally multiple courtyard and other outdoor spaces provide opportunities for indoor-outdoor living and activities.
