DesignPoint Working on Tower Six for City Center Project

October 19, 2017

Tower 6When Mike Molewski, founder and CEO of MFP Strategies now CAPTRUST, was visioning the future for the financial organization, he saw an impressive, modern office space in the heart of Lehigh Valley business activity at Tower Six in Allentown.

“The idea for Tower Six is to set the building apart from other City Center buildings and bring New York City or Philadelphia modern architecture to Allentown,” says Henry DelVecchio, DesignPoint’s senior interior designer on the project. “Allentown does not have another glass building.”

CAPTRUST will be the tenant on the 9th Floor of Tower 6 prominently located at the corner of Sixth and Hamilton Streets. Tower 6 is a $45 million project offering 145,000 SF of Class A office space across 12 stories and wrapped in an exquisite glass façade. Tower 6 is in a prime location amidst the city’s business district replete with restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

The rebirth of Allentown’s core was just what Molewski was seeking to springboard the financial organization to a position of pre-eminence in its field. The modern new office will appeal to current and existing clients as well as new advisors and employees as the firm seeks to grow.

DesignPoint is charged with crafting the client experience from the moment the client enters the chic office and during their meetings and interaction. This includes specifying the interior architecture of the reception area, and meeting spaces designed to dazzle and offer a comfortable experience. DesignPoint is selecting furniture, fixtures, floor and wall coverings for the common areas as well as the offices. The office area will be laid out to encourage collaboration among the staff yet also provide privacy for client meetings and conversations. The interior will also offer abundant natural light pulling in sun from the exterior and extending it into the inner rooms through glass walls. Many of the offices will be along the perimeter of the building and have internal glass walls to bring the outside in.

“Because the building is a prominent project, the building’s first floor lobby has been designed to be very sophisticated, polished, upscale, and offer an efficient use of space. The lobby feel is classic and clean with black, white, and orange colors. These elements have been carried through into the design of CAPTRUST’s space, and includes the uses of many transparent finishes to portray the elegance of a big city office,” explains DelVecchio. “The office design is intended to set them apart from where they are now to where they want to go. This includes intentional design features to enhance the experience of the staff, too. The northwest corner of the office is a kitchen space where those enjoying lunch can sit and take in the views.”

The design offers full exposure to views and captures ample natural light. There has been much attention to detail in the design including varied ceiling heights and overhead illumination.

DelVecchio is teaming with fellow DesignPoint interior designer Cassidy Moran to work closely with CAPTRUST and City Center Lehigh Valley. For each, the project is personally satisfying. DelVecchio has done other City Center projects and loves being a part of the downtown development. Moran lived downtown as a little girl and enjoys seeing her old neighborhood return to glory.

“I grew up walking past Wally’s newstand on 6th and Hamilton every morning on my way to preschool.  I have always seen the potential in Allentown, and it is exciting to participate in its transformation,” says Moran. Moran, who did the 3D sketch up model, described the new CAPTRUST interior in her own words,” their new sleek and modern space in Tower 6 is going to be a great environment for their team.   We have taken advantage of its all glass exterior to bring in natural light to the private offices and open work stations, giving employees a bright, comfortable space to work in.”

DelVecchio, Moran and the future tenants of Tower Six are all looking forward to the completion of project in 2018.

The CAPTRUST project is one of several recent projects for DesignPoint in downtown Allentown. The redevelopment of the city has attracted the attention of many businesses that desire to relocate downtown into a new office space in an effort to attract talent and ride the coattails of the downtown activity. Many businesses see the opportunity as a blank canvas to create the ideal office environment for clients and employees and harness the energy of the city’s rebirth.

DesignPoint is a full-service interior design firm that has helped many offices perform to their maximum potential for client engagement and employee productivity. Over the next few months, DesignPoint will be highlighting a few client stories that will provide insight into how top executives work. The stories exemplify how to strategically inject best practices for space planning, layouts, and interior design for successful businesses.
