Business As Usual – DesignPoint Continues to Help Clients during the Pandemic
April 6, 2020
For the past 25 years, DesignPoint has helped clients design their office and commercial spaces to facilitate workflow, collaboration, and customer interactions. We know that our clients take great pride in their work environments, and now with the affects of COVID-19, workers are seeking safe-haven at home; we empathize with your challenges. When the governor of PA gave his mandate, DesignPoint closed its physical office and each team member transitioned their base of operation to home. We understand that many of your companies are in similar situations and continue to operate to the greatest extent possible. This means relying on trusted advisors, vendors, and others to keep projects moving. Rest assured DesignPoint is busy at work ensuring that we support our clients’ activities. Together, we will take these lemons and enjoy some lemonade!
Construction projects in the Northeast have been shutdown including many of our senior living renovations across the United States. We have a couple new builds that are continuing but for the length of the coronavirus situation, there will be many challenges for construction projects.
Thanks to technology, DesignPoint continues to operate and support client projects. We have a very talented and basically young staff that is very adept at working with current technology. Like many of you, we are hosting meetings virtually with Zoom or GoToMeeting. It is rather interesting to connect that way, and this new shift may be the way of the future.
Even with a home-based workforce, DesignPoint can continue to offer the full breath of services that it has always offered to clients. Our design staff is fully equipped with access to our AutoCAD platform, and we can log into our work computer as if we were sitting in the office. Occasionally and when necessary, someone will run into the office to retrieve samples from our library, but otherwise we are fully equipped while working remotely. We would be amiss if we did not admit that we do not have the same collaboration and camaraderie as working together in the office, but we are largely able to overcome it in the meantime. In some respects it’s easier to focus without the daily office interruptions. I also find I work at hours I would not normally if I was in the office. Similarly, we can take breaks to talk with family or enjoy an afternoon walk.
It is our hope that all our colleagues remain healthy and that we all leverage this time to bond together as families, organizations, and communities to emerge as a better people! Until then, DesignPoint is here to support your projects. Stay well!
