DesignPoint Celebrates 25 Years by Giving Back

June 9, 2020

In 1995, as a project engineer and designer for an engineering consulting firm, Les McCoy sensed a need in the commercial market for interior design services. “While many firms were focused on the exteriors of buildings and curb appeal, there was growing interest in designing the client experience through space planning and internal architecture for hotels and other businesses,” recalls McCoy. With some help from business associates, McCoy launched DesignPoint, Inc., which has grown into one of the region’s leading commercial interior design firms.

This year marks DesignPoint’s 25th anniversary, and McCoy and his team had been planning an open house to celebrate the milestone and show their appreciation to clients, employees, business associates, and others, for a quarter-century of support. Unfortunately, COVID-19 was the uninvited party crasher and forced DesignPoint to change their plans. Still wanting to observe the milestone, the team brainstormed alternative ways to celebrate. “We work very closely with the senior living industry, so their struggles during this pandemic tempered our enthusiasm. We wanted to reallocate our open house budget to show our support and give back to the front line workers at local senior living clients,” shares McCoy. What resulted was the creation of 650 individual gift bags made up for direct care workers and distributed by the DesignPoint staff to area clients. Although DesignPoint works with several dozen senior living communities across the United States, they chose four major clients where DesignPoint staff could safely drop off the gifts at each community’s entrance. They delivered to Phoebe Allentown, Moravian Hall Square (Nazareth), Juniper Village at Bucks (Bensalem), and The Watermark at Logan Square (Philadelphia). “We know that for over 25 years we have been blessed as a business, and while we are disappointed that we could not see our associates and friends to celebrate, that has been replaced with the satisfaction of brightening the days of many who bravely care for a vulnerable segment of our community,” reveals McCoy.
