DesignPoint Women Lead the Way

Women have proven to be great mentors. Here at DesignPoint, where men are outnumbered 12-2, this statement holds true. In this degree of work, having a female-oriented staff creates a rejuvenated perspective, and more importantly — a naturally nurturing atmosphere. Many of our designers think socially by bouncing ideas off one another and often look to more experienced designers for their opinions and knowledge. While this doesn’t just go for the women, there is definitely something to say about the environment that a majority-female firm fosters.

Artistic Nature — Women pair a naturally intuitive mind and a creative imagination.

First and foremost, the Interior Design Industry is primarily female. We believe this disproportion can be attributed to a woman’s natural passion for art. This creative inclination extends beyond traditional art to a love for music, books, writing, and their varying values of culture. DesignPoint’s staff carries a wide range of talents and hobbies outside of design, to which we credit much of the creativity and innovative solutions in their daily design work. Individual passions translate into compelling and expressive designs. Female designers offer a reliable design sense and the ability to reimagine the future with an open mind and respect for other values.

Communication Skills — The DesignPoint women communicate well with each other and with clients.

The relationships of DesignPoint’s staff create a culture like no other. With engagements that extend beyond staff activities and team building, many of the employees have created friendships beyond their place in the office. These bonds allow seamless communication and trust — the foundation of a successful team. DesignPoint holds its staff to a high level of expectation while maintaining a human connection that is encouraging and uplifting. Within this supportive environment, it’s no surprise that team members can challenge each other without competition or confrontation. This relationship-centered culture extends to collaboration with clients, where communication is honest and relationships flourish for decades.

Multidimensional — The women of DesignPoint are a dynamic group of leaders that take on many different roles.

Women at DesignPoint excel in project management and construction administration. Despite constituting the majority of the Interior Design workforce, women represent less than 10% of the construction industry as a whole, where — unfortunately — it is still commonplace to face prejudices within the professional field. DesignPoint responds, however, with rigor and professionalism. Women on staff carry diverse backgrounds in Interior Architecture and Construction Management allowing the team to oversee bidding and construction phases, while collaborating effectively with contractors. Through hands-on experience and continued learning opportunities, women at DesignPoint build the confidence and knowledge base to address challenges that arise throughout all phases of a project. Their professionalism has earned them a great reputation with clients who enjoy and respect working with this talented group of women in the DP office.

This female-strong work environment is one that creates a constructive community that we at DesignPoint enjoy and take pride in. With high-quality design work and decision-making at the forefront of each workday, the DesignPoint women use a handful of their natural capabilities in staying organized and on-task. This same rigor of work ethic infuses their design thinking and conversational capabilities with both coworkers and clients. With someone to lean on and someone to learn from, the DesignPoint women offer unmatched energy that stands as both contagious and inspiring.
